Dr. Christopher Ryan
VMD, DACVR
Dr. Christopher Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in general biology and went on to earn his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.
Dr. Ryan started his veterinary career as an equine veterinarian, completing a rigorous internship at the world-renowned Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He then spent 5 years in equine ambulatory practice at the University of Pennsylvania and in private practice in upstate NY. Following his interest in diagnostic imaging Dr. Ryan pursued a small animal internship at Redbank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey. He then returned to the University of Pennsylvania to complete a three-year residency program in diagnostic imaging. Dr. Ryan achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 2013.
Dr. Ryan enjoys all aspects of diagnostic imaging including ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and general radiography. His particular areas of clinical interest include advanced imaging of central nervous system disorders, CT and ultrasound of various oncological conditions, sports medicine imaging in the canine and equine athlete and image guided interventional procedures to improve diagnostic and surgical success while minimizing invasiveness to the patient. Dr. Ryan has authored several scientific articles and book chapters in both small animal and equine fields and enjoys lecturing at local and regional continuing education conferences on various diagnostic imaging topics.
Outside of work Dr. Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and “squad” of Frenchies as well as all of the great outdoor activities the nearby Adirondack mountains have to offer.
